SUMMARY:Focus Lecture
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to another focus lecture organized within the framework of the MGK project of TRR360. \n\n\n\nDr. Anton Jesche has kindly agreed to talk about the following topic: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“A Solution for Crystal Growth: Crystal Growth from Solution“ \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract \n\n\n\nSolution growth is a powerful and versatile method for producing high-quality crystals\, offering numerous advantages for optimizing sample size\, improving crystal quality\, and enabling detailed substitution studies. This approach is particularly useful for exploratory research\, as it allows crystal growth at lower reaction temperatures\, reduced vapor pressures\, and with smaller material quantities compared to other techniques. Additionally\, solution growth often incorporates an “in situ purification” process\, enhancing the quality of the starting materials during crystallization. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe lecture is scheduled for March 4th at 10:00 AM in Room 403S at the Institute of Physics\, University of Augsburg. \n\n\n\nPhD students are strongly encouraged to attend in person and share this email with interested colleagues. (There will be a bonus for those attending in person.) \n\n\n\nFor those who cannot join in person\, the lecture will also be transmitted via Zoom\, the link will be send around via e-mail.

SUMMARY:Young Researcher Forum 2024 + Focus Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Dear young researchers\, \n\n\n\nlet’s meet again for another YR Forum! This year we will meat in Garching near Munich and learn how to master the art of salary negotiations with Claudia Kimich. Of course also a labtour of our colleagues of the TUM will be given and we will hear Alexander Tsirlin and Johannes Knolle talk about “Quantum Spin Liquids”. To register and get more information visit our webpage!

SUMMARY:Focus Lecture
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to invite you to the first focus lecture organized within the framework of the MGK project of TRR360. \n\n\n\nDr. Joachim Deisenhofer has kindly agreed to “break the ice” with the following topic: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n“THz Time-Domain Spectroscopy in Magnetic Insulators” \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIn this lecture\, Dr. Deisenhofer will introduce the basic concepts of THz time-domain spectroscopy\, covering both \n\n\n\ntheoretical and experimental aspects. The talk will be structured into two key parts: \n\n\n\n\n\n\nBasic Principles: A discussion on the foundational concepts of THz time-domain spectroscopy\, including how to extract optical material parameters\, such as the complex refractive index\, from raw data.\n\n\n\nExperimental Insights: The second part will highlight experimental results from insulating magnets\, particularly in materials such as the magnetoelectric compound Fe₂Mo₃O₈ and the ferrimagnetic spinelFeCr₂S₄.\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThe lecture is scheduled for October 18th at 10:30 AM in Room 403S at the Institute of Physics\, University of Augsburg. \n\n\n\nPhD students are strongly encouraged to attend in person and share this email with interested colleagues. (There will be a bonus for those attending in person.) \n\n\n\nFor those who cannot join in person\, the lecture will also be transmitted via Zoom. The Zoom link was send around via e-mail.
